We spend much of our professional development time in classes engaged in presentations about roof system technology, wind uplift, drainage and a myriad of other topics; but in a true business sense, our technical acumen in roofing or building envelope is a means to an end…that is to say, we are business professionals, but this is the area in which we receive the least amount of training and the area that we are least able to collaborate with one another because our firms are in competition with one another, albeit a friendly competition for the most part. This presentation will discuss our role as business men and women, it will discuss how to grow your business or how to assess what is the right size business for you.
This presentation will address such issues as sales techniques (what has worked for us and what hasn’t worked), marketing strategies (what has worked for us and what hasn’t) and how to retain clients. The presentation will also address our perceived value to our clients (and how to increase that perceived value.) Finally, the presentation will discuss how to hire and retain good employees.
